On behalf of the Linus Pauling Institute conference organizing committee and its international scientific advisory board, we invite you to attend the sixth biennial conference on "Diet and Optimum Health" to be held September 13-16, 2011, on the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis Oregon, USA.

Program

Diet and Optimum Health 2011 will emphasize dietary and lifestyle approaches to improving human health and preventing or treating disease, including dietary supplements, micronutrients, and antioxidants. The target audience includes scientists and health professionals in biochemistry, nutrition, preventive medicine, public health, endocrinology, cardiology, oncology, and gerontology. We anticipate a strong scientific look at the cutting edge of nutrition research. The program features individual sessions including:

  • Vitamin E: Biological Functions and Controversies
  • Micronutrients, Diet, and Immune Function
  • Diet and Cardiovascular Disease
  • Gut Microbes and Probiotics - Role in Health and Disease
  • Caloric Restriction Mimetics, Diet, and Healthy Aging

Poster Session

The conference features a poster session, allowing scientists to share their latest research findings. Abstracts for posters can be submitted between now and July 15, 2011. The three most outstanding posters presented by graduate students or post-doctoral fellows will receive Young Investigator Awards.

The Hilton Garden Inn, 2500 SW Western Blvd, Corvallis, OR 97333, is the official hotel for the conference. Reservations may be made directly with the hotel.

Linus Pauling Institute Prize for Health Research

A highlight of the conference will be the award ceremony for the sixth Linus Pauling Institute Prize for Health Research. This international award, consisting of a medal and monetary award, recognizes innovation and excellence in research relating to the roles of vitamins, essential minerals, and phytochemicals in promoting health and preventing or treating disease; and the roles of oxidative stress and inflammation, and dietary antioxidant and anti-inflammatory factors, in human health and disease. The prize winner will present the last talk of the day on Thursday, September 15, 2011.
