Thank you for your interest in the Linus Pauling Institute. I hope you will be encouraged by the research described here. Many years ago, Dr. Pauling concluded that vitamins and micronutrients play a significant role in enhancing human health and preventing chronic diseases, not just deficiency diseases. However, Pauling's ideas were met with great resistance from the nutrition and medical communities. So he founded his own institute to carry out research in this field that he believed would be of enormous importance to public health.
The basic premise that an optimum diet is the key to optimum health continues today as the foundation of the Linus Pauling Institute. We conduct research in the Institute's laboratories, publish a semi-annual research newsletter, maintain a website, provide information about nutritional factors on our online Micronutrient Information Center, organize and sponsor scientific meetings, and respond to inquiries from the public and the media as our means of building on Pauling's work. These efforts provide new knowledge, scientifically researched, and peer-reviewed.
Thank you for learning more about us. We hope you will join with thousands of others in advocating our work and, when possible, providing tax-deductible funding to assure its continuation well into the 21st century.
