Overview

As part of the Core Laboratories at the Linus Pauling Institute, the Analytical Services Core perorms analysis on of small molecules of plants or animal origin. This includes, but is not limited to, compositional analysis of dietary supplements, plant material, tissue or cell culture extracts, or samples obtained from human clinical trials. Any of assays can be performed in conjunction with the Biological Models and Translational Research Core at LPI that can assist in the collection and preservation of samples of animal origin.

Common Analytes

  • Isoprostanes and other oxidative stress biomarkers 
  • Oxidized lipids, and lipid oxidation products 
  • Untargeted and targeted metabolomics/lipidomics
  • Vitamins C, E, and K, minerals, glutathione and related thiols
  • Phytochemicals, including phenolics, procyanidins, anthocyanins, and carotenoids
  • Total Antioxidant Capacity by FRAP or ORAC
  • Sugars and sugar alcohols
  • Non-volatile organic acids
  • Amino acid composition
  • Brix, pH, titratable acidity, moisture, formal value
