Linus Pauling Institute

During the Diet and Optimum Health conference this year, we included a session dedicated to honoring Dr. Balz Frei, the Linus Pauling Institute Director from 1997 to 2016. This session focused mainly on his scientific accomplishments and dedication to scientific rigor that shaped the Linus Pauling Institute.

The 2017 Linus Pauling Institute Prize for Health Research was awarded to Dr. Frei in recognition of his innovation and excellence in research. In addition, his efforts through the outreach programs at the Linus Pauling Institute were cited as contributions to enhance public health and reduce suffering in disease.

We also encourage everyone to honor Dr. Frei's career by giving a donation to the Balz Frei Endowment Fellowship. This fund, established prior to his retirement in 2016, will provide support for students working in the Linus Pauling Institute.
